Ecosystem & Shrimps
A self sustaining aquatic garden
Think of our aquariums as a tiny window into the workings of the natural world — a simple yet profound simulation of life’s delicate balance. Each one is a self sustaining ecosystem where every element plays a role in maintaining harmony, right on your shelf.
How does this ecosystem work?
It all starts with light. Ambient light from the aquarium’s surroundings triggers photosynthesis in the algae and moss balls, providing a continuous supply of oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide in the water. Meanwhile, the shrimps play their part by feeding on the algae, keeping algae population in check while forming the main part of their diet.
The aquarium's interior features, such as sea fan, shells, and decorative ornaments, provide extra surfaces for microalgae to grow. These surfaces become grazing grounds for the shrimps, allowing them to forage naturally, just as they would in the wild.
Behind the scenes, a colony of beneficial bacteria breaks down waste matter from the shrimps, helping to maintain healthy water conditions and eliminating the need for water changes.
Together, these elements form a perfect cycle: the shrimps and bacteria release carbon dioxide, which the algae and moss balls use to produce oxygen. This ongoing exchange is what keeps our aquariums balanced, beautiful, and vibrant.
The Shrimps
Hardy pets in a world of their own
The mini red shrimps are the heart and soul of our aquariums, serving as the main inhabitants of these miniature aquatic worlds. Native to the brackish anchialine pools of the Hawaiian Islands, these resilient creatures are remarkably adapted to survive for up to 10 years in harsh environments with minimal food and low oxygen levels.
Living effortlessly on the algae and microbes naturally found in the water, they rarely require additional feeding. At an average size of about 1.5 cm, they are perfectly suited for all capacities of our aquariums and thrive without the need for water changes or equipment like air pumps.
These hardy companions are incredibly low maintenance, making them ideal for any home or office. For children, they offer a fun and educational introduction to life sciences and a gentle start to pet ownership. For adults, they provide a serene, stress-relieving presence, transforming any space into a calming oasis.
